Here is some of the news you may have missed from this week!
SNES Classic Mini Stock Update
Pre-orders for the highly anticipated classic edition went live earlier this week at all the big retailers, and was gone within minutes. Gamestop gave an update of its stock and it was revealed they would not get any until its release date. As you would expect fans are extremely upset as the only way to get a pre-order as of right now is to cough up some cash on Ebay, where the system is extremely higher than the $79.99 asking price for pre-orders. The SNES Classic Mini will release on September 29.
Metroid: Samus Returns Receives New Trailer
The newest 2D Metroid from Nintendo received a trailer showing off some of Samus’s unique abilities to help make life a bit easier for the bounty hunter. Metroid: Samus Returns is a complete remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus. Nintendo looks to update the game to post Super Metroid gameplay, with some new additions of its own. Metroid: Samus Returns looks like the 2D Metroid we have been waiting for, it releases on the New Nintendo 3Ds only, on September 15 for $39.99.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Releases
The newest game in the highly acclaimed Uncharted franchise released this Tuesday to positive reviews, but not as positive as previous games in the acclaimed franchise. The game was criticized for not adding anything new to combat and having very similar set pieces to Uncharted 4, but was praised for its writing, story, and characters. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy released on PS4 only for $39.99, make sure to pick this one up if your a fan of the series.
Rocket League Switch Version to Receive Exclusive Cars
The Nintendo Switch version of Rocket League will receive three cars that will be free to download at launch. Two of them will be Mario and Luigi themed and the other will be Metroid themed. The Switch version of Rocket League will release sometime this Holiday season.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle to Recieve Season Pass
The switch exclusive will receive a $20 season pass that grants you access to eight weapons at launch, maps throughout this year, and a single player story expansion pack sometime next year. The XCOM style game will release on August 29, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch for $59.99.
NBA 2K18 Cover Star Traded
Kyrie Irving, the cover star of 2K18, was traded earlier this week to the Boston Celtics. This is a problem for the 2K series as the cover star was traded just a month before release. All of 2K’s marketing for the game features Irving in a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey, which puts 2K in a sticky situation as Irving will be wearing Celtic green this year. This is a first for the series, so it will be interesting to see what 2K decides to do. NBA 2K18 releases on September 19 for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC for $59.99.
Yakuza 2 Remake Accidentally Leaked
A Yakuza 2 HD remaster has been leaked. It seems Sega wants to continue to remaster the Yakuza games, as a remaster for the first game is out next week. The leak says it will have a December 7 release date for this year which seems quite early, but it is most likely a placeholder date. The west is getting a lot of Yakuza games, they have seen the release of Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami next week, and Yakuza 6 early next year, so obviously Sega wants to get the critically acclaimed series more well known in the west.
That is all the news we have this week make sure to stay tuned for anything gaming related here at Sick Critic.
