GameCube Controller Support on the Switch Draws Questions From Fans

The latest update to the Nintendo Switch, included multiple new additions to the console such as 30 second capture, new icons and the ability to transfer saves between consoles, but the most interesting addition is GameCube Controller support, which Nintendo did not even announce.

It is very odd that Nintendo went through the trouble to allow the GameCube controller adapter to work on the Switch, but did not even let players know that it was a new feature. Fans have been speculating about what this could mean, and most believe that a new Super Smash Bros. title is in the works. A Super Smash Bros. title does seems inevitable as the Switch is the hottest console around, and Nintendo would only benefit from putting one of their biggest franchises on the Switch. The GameCube controller support might mean that a Smash Bros title is coming sooner than expected, as it is most fans preferred way to play the beloved fighting game series, but only time will tell.

Virtual Console has also been speculated quite a bit, as it was reported last year that Nintendo would bring the GameCube to the Virtual Console. With games like Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros. Melee and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, the GameCube remains to be a fan favorite console from Nintendo. Our fingers are crossed that both Virtual Console and a new Super Smash Bros. title is on the way, but either or will do for the time being.

What are you thoughts on the matter, it could be nothing or it could be a new Super Smash Bros. title, comment below and let us know what you think. Make sure to stay tuned for anything gaming related here at Sick Critic.

I am a huge sports game fan, if I am not playing 2k or Madden, then I am probably playing the latest big release that week. Someone also needs to bring back the NCAA football series soon, please and thank you.
