The Long Dark, which released in August of last year, will finally be getting a physical release for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The Long Dark has players try to survive on a devastated Earth after the destruction of its electromagnetic field. All technology is useless and heat is a rarity. You’re given three modes to play: story mode, which is exactly what it sounds like; survival mode, where you only get one shot to survive as long as you can and have to start over when you fail; and challenge mode, where you have to complete certain objectives on top of continued survival.
The Long Dark sits comfortably in the mid 70s range on metacritic and has a “very positive” score on steam, and if you’ve missed it so far, you’ll have a chance to play it on September 4th. Not only will you get the game, but you’ll get a download code to get the soundtrack, and can also get a limited edition Field Journal, which gives you a guide to the island and space to log your activities.
