Overwatch Receives A New Animated Short and A New Map

During Gamescom 2018 Blizzard announced a few new things for Overwatch fans. Firstly a brand new animated short has been released. This one showcases D.Va’s origin story.

Alongside the animated short, a brand new map has been revealed for the game, called Busan. This map is a control map that takes place in Busan, South Korea. The map also has three distinct locales: Sanctuary, Downtown, and MKEA Base. The description for the map can be found in the video below.

Explore the serene setting of the Sanctuary, surrounded by an ancient temple, beautiful gardens, and historic architecture. Clash in the bustling metropolis of Downtown, where players will fight across a busy PC bang, flashy karaoke bar, and central light rail station (just watch out for the train). Contest for position in MEKA Base—home of South Korea’s front line defense against the gwishin omnic attacks: D.Va and the rest of the MEKA squad. Teams must fight to hold each of the three stages to establish complete control of the city that refuses to surrender its way of life to any threat.

Outside of the game, LEGO is teasing Overwatch-themed sets. Six characters have been teased and they appear to be Widowmaker, Reinhardt, Genji, Soldier 76, Mercy and McCree.

Overwatch is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. with the Busan Map and LEGO sets coming soon.
