Fortnite Season 5 Week 8 Challenges Guide

Fortnite’s season 5, week 8 challenges have just gone live. Most are easy, however, a few of the challenges this week are tedious. There are 3 free Battle Pass challenges and 4 premium Battle Pass challenges. Below is the list of this week’s challenges, and beneath that is a guide for each one.

Free Battle Pass Challenges:

  • Place Traps (10 Required) – 5 Battle Stars
  • Search Chests in Wailing Woods (7 Required) – 5 Battle Stars
  • Shotgun eliminations (4 Required) – 10 Battle Stars

Paid Battle Pass Challenges:

  • Deal damage with a Pickaxe to opponents (250 Required) – 5 Battle Stars
  • Use the rift at different spawn locations (10 Required) – 5 Battle Stars
  • Search between three oversized seats (1 Required) – 10 Battle Stars
  • Eliminate Opponents in 3 specific locations (3 Required) – 3 Battle Stars

Place Traps

This challenge is tedious. Whilst, you only have to place traps, finding them in the environment can be a long process, as the only come in stacks of 1. I have no tips for this challenge except, play matches, explore any small outbuildings, and search chests. Eventually, you will find 10 traps. As a note, the Bouncer’s do not count towards this trophy, even though they have a trap function.

Search Chests in Wailing Woods

The Woods is a large area sprinkled with abandoned cars and vans, chests can spawn on these cars and vans; however, they can’t be seen from the air, due to the trees blocking your view.  In the center is a small maze that contains four chests, spawning at random locations in the maze. This maze tends to be the hotspot, where a bunch of enemies and teammates will parachute into.

Therefore, it is best to play 50 V 50 modes, and parachute into the maze, attempting to search a chest. Then, head out into the wider Woods and find some cars and vans. That should help you pick up at least 2 chests in a match. Keep replaying matches until you have opened seven chests.

Shotgun Eliminations

This one is easy. Find a shotgun and kill four enemies. Any mode is good for this as shotguns spawn quite frequently. Personally, I completed this in the limited time mode Solid Gold, which spawns the powerful Double Barrel Shotgun and the Heavy Shotgun. This does not have to be in one match.

Deal Damage With a Pickaxe to Opponents

This challenge sounds difficult, but in reality, it is fairly easy and quick to complete. The best trick is to down an enemy and then wail on them with your Pickaxe. This should take 2 and a half kills. One mode does not take priority over any others, work towards this in whatever mode you like.

Use a Rift At Different Spawn Locations

Rifts spawn throughout the map and in clusters. There will usually be 1-4 rift entrances right next to each other. Entering only 1 of these counts towards the challenge. Therefore, you need to find 10 of these clusters around the map and enter the rift. The locations can be found below. As a note, the Rift-To-Go item does not count.

All of the rift locations on the map

Search Between Three Oversised Seats

This is the battle star challenge of this week. The location to parachute in on is just above Flush Factory on a hill, in-between three trees.

The Star is just above Flush Factory.

In-between these trees is the star, which you can collect.

The Star is on top of the hill.

Eliminate Opponents in 3 Specific Locations

This week’s stage-based challenge involves eliminating 1 opponents in three different locations. You need to eliminate an opponent in these locations in this order:

  • Eliminate an Opponent in Greasy Grove
  • Eliminate an Opponent in Lonely Lodge
  • Eliminate an Opponent in Fatal Fields

The best mode for this is Solo, as it allows you to directly parachute on these locations every time. Enemies will also likely parachute in with you.

That covers it for all of the challenges this week.

Battle Royale games and multiplayer experiences like Fortnite are the trends of 2018, this is why one of our writers, Brandon Pero, asks “Does Single Player have a future?
