Fortnite Season 5 Week 9 Challenges Guide

Fortnite’s Season 5, Week 9 challenges have finally gone live. This week’s challenges are finicky and annoying to complete. There are 3 free Battle Pass challenges and 4 premium Battle Pass challenges. Below is the list of this week’s challenges, and beneath that is a guide for each one.

Free Battle Pass Challenges:

  • Deal Damage with Explosive Weapons to opponents (500 Required) – 5 Battle Stars
  • Get Trick Points in a Shopping Cart or ATK (150,000 Required) – 5 Battle Stars
  • Follow the Treasure Map found in Shifty Shafts (1 Required) – 10 Battle Stars

Paid Battle Pass Challenges:

  • Search a Chest in 5 specific locations (5 Required) – 5 Battle Stars
  • Visit different Stone Heads (7 Required) – 5 Battle Stars
  • Assault Rifle Eliminations (4 Required) – 10 Battle Stars
  • Eliminate opponents in Tomato Temple (3 Required) – 10 Battle Stars

Deal Damage with Explosive Weapons to Opponents

This Challenge is simple, find any explosive weapon: Grenades, Guided Missiles, etc, and deal 500 damage to opponents. This can be done in any mode and explosives spawn frequently throughout the map, so it should not be too difficult to complete.

Get Trick Points in a Shopping Cart or ATK

This one is a little tricky. When jumping off of slopes and hills in an ATK or Shopping Cart you will begin to earn Trick Points if the jump was big enough and the wheels land on the floor. The goal is to perform these jumps until reaching 150,000 points. Use an ATK over a shopping cart whenever possible as they are easier to control, have a boost, and can jump further. You can find hills around the area, where you find an ATK; however, I recommend taking it to Dusty Divot and powersliding before jumping off the top level and into the divot itself. This guarantees a big enough jump and can easily be repeated, by driving back up.

ATK’s and Shopping Carts can be found in Named Locations of the map such as Retail Row. The best mode for this is a variant of 50 V 50 as there are fewer enemies, meaning you are less likely to get killed whilst working towards this.

Follow the Treasure Map found in Shifty Shafts

This is the battle star challenge of the week. As usual, you do not have to visit the map, you can go straight to the location. The location of the star is in-between Dusty Divot and Salty Springs, seen on the map below.

The Star is just below Dusty Divot.

The exact location is low down on the hill.

Search a Chest in 5 Specific Locations

This is this week’s multi-stage challenge. You need to open 1 chest in these locations in this order:

  • Haunted Hills
  • Shifty Shafts
  • Lazy Links
  • Tilted Towers
  • Retail Row

Each of these chests will give you 1 battle star, totalling 5 after opening all 5.

Visit Different Stone Heads

Since Season 5 has started there are stone heads throughout the map. They contain multiple chests near them and grant a lot of material when destroyed. Here is a map of all the locations:

Here are all of the Heads on the map.

Visit these seven locations and the challenge will be completed. The Stone Heads do not have to be there, going to the location where it should be will contribute towards this challenge.

Assault Rifle Eliminations

This is an easy one, find an assault rifle and kill 4 enemies with it. This can be done over multiple matches. Any mode is a good fit for this.

Eliminate opponents in Tomato Temple

Tomato Temple is found east of Wailing Woods and north of Dusty Divot. Simply parachute in on the Temple and kill 3 enemies, which can be done over multiple matches. The best mode for this is Solo, as enemies will likely parachute in with you.

That covers it for this weeks challenges.

Battle Royale games and multiplayer experiences like Fortnite are the trends of 2018, this is why one of our writers, Brandon Pero, asks “Does Single Player have a future?
