Originally released on the Wii U, Swords and Soldiers 2- Shawarmageddon came out today on the Nintendo Switch. Ronimo Games’s side-scrolling strategy action game has you play as Viking Chief Redbeard traveling across the land and even into hell itself to prevent “Shawarmageddon”. You’ll play as and against three factions, Vikings, Persians, and Demons, each of which with unique attacks and strategies. Aside from the main campaign, players can go head to head with each other both locally and online, pitting their custom-made teams on the field of battle.
Swords and Soldiers 2 is available for $15 USD, but if you own the first Swords and Soldiers game on Switch, you’ll get a 20% discount. If you buy the sequel first, though, and want to try out the first, you’ll get the same 20% discount when you purchase the original. The game’s currently hovering a bit below 80% on metacritic (75% for the Wii U version and 81% for the PS4), and has a 90% recommended rating on steam. The art style seems adorably cartoonish, as you can see in the release trailer below:
