One of the best Japanese RPGs in recent memory is getting an upgraded edition with extra content. Persona 5 Royal has been given a release window of 2020 for the west by Atlus. The new version of the game will include an additional main character and plenty of new story content, similar to how Persona 4 Golden was handled.
This will be the best time for new fans to jump into Persona 5, as all the previous content will be included as well. There is no word on whether or not it will be available as an add-on DLC but it’s safe to assume you’ll have to buy the whole game all over again, based on previous releases. There is also a Japanese trailer, which reveals that Japan will get the game much earlier than everyone else.

In Japan, the game is titled Persona 5 The Royal and is scheduled to drop on October 31, significantly earlier than in the west. This is due, in part, to the lengthy English dubbing process that the game must go through. A Japanese only trailer was released (without subtitles), which you can watch here:
