A Hat in Time was one of my favorite games of 2017, and I’m ecstatic to see it getting continued support. Gears for Breakfast just announced a new world called Nyakuza Metro, which is themed around cat burglars. Hat Kid is employed by a tall, intimidating jeweler cat to steal hourglasses for her in this new area. She’s seen intimidating other cats, and is presumably the final area boss, unless Gears for Breakfast has a hidden “from the shadows” style villain planned. Hat Kid also receives a plethora of new cat-themed outfit. The trailed featured a new model for her that featured a mask with a cat face and a headband with pointy ears, and teased even fancier outfits. A new mask is also obtainable in the area which makes the entire level retro-themed. These outfits are downright adorable, and I can’t wait to see more of them.
This isn’t the only incoming update, though. Included in this update is an expanded multiplayer mode. This isn’t a standard four player couch co-op mode, however, this is an online party mode, where 50 players can enter a level to either roam freely around or compete with each other to complete the level. Depending on what features are included, this could range anywhere from a decent bit of good fun to my new favorite way to spend my weekends. Unfortunately, there was no news about the Switch version, although I’d wager that these features will be included upon release.
This update will be available to PC users on May 10th, which is just over two weeks away. It will cost 6.99 USD, but will be free to Kickstarter backers.
