Total War: Three Kingdoms Reveals New DLC

Creative Assembly (CA), developers of the Total War series just revealed a trailer called Eight Princes, an upcoming Downloadable Content (DLC) for Total War: Three Kingdoms. According to CA, the DLC will be picking up on 291 CE, an entire generation after the events of the Three Kingdoms’ main campaign. After the unification of China under the Jin Dynasty, the ruling princes, each with self-serving ambitions and views of their own, hunger for power. This creates another crisis for the newly formed empire and nurtures an environment ripe for civil war.

This will technically be the third DLC for Three Kingdoms but the first campaign DLC to launch since the game’s release. The other two were the Yellow Turban Rebellion, a faction DLC that adds playable faction to the game and Creative Assembly’s post-launch signature blood and gore DLC, called Reign of Blood.

Total War: Three Kingdoms has been praised by Total War fans for its own iteration of the Three Kingdoms storyline, unique art style and the addition of the Romance mode which gives you a larger than life take on the legendary characters of the Three Kingdoms. It also introduced enhancements to the Total War gameplay system like the charge reflection that basically ensures that any stationary spear unit would have bonuses against charging cavalry. It also introduced the addition of “Duels” for heroes that showed an epic battle between generals and/or legendary characters that usually turns the tide of battle in favor of the victor.

The game has been highly praised by Critics and Users alike with a score of 85 meta score and an 8.3 user score under Metacritic. Total War: Three Kingdoms has scored higher than Total War: Attila and comes close to Total War: Warhammer II, which were two of Creative Assembly’s highly praised games in Total War’s long-running series of games.

Eight Princes will be available on the 8th August 2019 for the PC. For more information about the DLC and Total War: Three Kingdoms check out their steam page and Total War’s main page.
