Hideo Kojima himself made an appearance at a panel at San Diego Comic-Con where he revealed the Death Stranding box art for PlayStation 4. He also released a raw version of the box art through Twitter, where people are also posting their impressions of the SDCC panel, which seated 2000 people. The game’s journey has been developing for the last few years and it’s great to see it’s nearing completion. Check out the official box art below and keep reading for the steelbook box art.
He also revealed the Death Stranding steelbook cover art during the panel; Kojima says that he made the cover art himself. It pictured the protagonist, Sam, covered in what looks like oil. You can purchase the standard edition of the game for $59.99 or the Death Stranding Special Edition for $69.99, which includes the steelbook case pictured below.
Death Stranding Is Coming
Death Stranding is one of Sony’s biggest upcoming releases for the PlayStation 4, along with The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima, which are believed to be releasing sometime next year in 2020. It’s believed that TLOU Part II’s release date has been leaked for early next year, but there is still no word on Ghost of Tsushima. Sony has poured a lot of money and manpower into this game, so it’ll be interesting to see if all that effort translates into sales. After all, this is a new IP we’re talking about, which aren’t guaranteed to succeed. Even with Hideo Kojima’s legacy, only time will tell if this will be a hit for Sony, the PlayStation brand, and for Kojima’s new studio, Kojima Productions.
Death Stranding will arrive exclusively on PlayStation 4 on November 9, 2019. Are you looking forward to Hideo Kojima’s new game or are you still confused by what it’s supposed to be? Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think of the box art.
Word player, note manipulator, and logic breaker. My favorite game is The Last of Us. I’ll argue with you about it all day. Try me. “To the edge of the universe and back, endure and survive…”
