Published by Versus Evil, Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch on August 8th. Both parts of its DLC The White March will be included.
Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, known for titles such as Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II and Fallout New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity is a spiritual successor to seminal RPG Baldur’s Gate. Beginning as a Kickstarter campaign in 2012, Pillars of Eternity amassed over $4 million in crowdfunding, the most amount of money raised for a game at the time.
As you can see above, the announcement came with a brief trailer for the Switch version showing off gameplay and a little bit of the character creation system. Pillars of Eternity is already available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and released to high critical acclaim. General consensus is that if you enjoy PC RPG’s of old, this is one to watch out for. Also worth noting is the positive reception towards the console ports of this game, something that can be a point of contention when adapting this genre on to home consoles.
Pillars of Eternity stands to gain a lot by being ported to the Switch, the console’s pick-up and go nature makes immersing yourself in long-form RPGs even easier. Will you be picking this one up on August 8th? Let us know down in the comments!
