Pokémon Sword/Shield Gets New Trailer

The new trailer for Pokémon Sword and Shield is here, showing off some brand new characters and Pokémon to collect. We recently reported that new information on Pokémon Sword and Shield would be coming today and here it is in the form of a trailer.

The trailer reveals that currently, existing Pokémon will have region-specific forms for Galar, dubbed Galarian forms. We get a look at Galarian Weezing, who dons a top hat in the shape of a smokestack. This pays homage to the fact that the Galar region where Pokémon Sword and Shield is set is heavily inspired by Great Britain.

Galarian forms aren’t the only thing shown off in the trailer, we also get a look at new rivals Bede and Marnie. Marnie comes complete with her own wild fan base Team Yell, who serve as villains for the player to battle against. It appears Team Yell’s design is based on that of the punk music scene in England during the 1960’s/1970’s. Morpeko, the resident Pikachu clone for Sword and Shield is shown here too, appearing with two modes known as “full belly mode” and “hangry mode”. Hangry mode changes Morpeko’s move “Aura Wheel” from electric to dark type.

If you’ve been following Pokémon Sword and Shield news then no doubt you’re aware of the controversy surrounding which Pokémon will be included in the newest title. Unlike all previous games in the series, Pokémon Sword and Shield will not include every Pokémon. This caused upset in the community with players fearing that their favorite creature won’t be in the game. Despite this, a lot of people are still excited for the titular series’ first outing on the Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon Sword and Shield is coming to the Nintendo Switch on November 15th. Will you be picking it up? Let us know down in the comments!
