Return of the Obra Dinn is Coming to Consoles Very Soon

Solo developer Lucas Pope recently announced via twitter, that his hit title Return of the Obra Dinn is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on October 18th.

Pope, most widely known for his 2013 dystopian drama Papers, Please, tweeted last month that Obra Dinn’s port to consoles is being handled by Warp Digital. Warp Digital is a London based company, which most recently worked on the console port for Metroidvania Blasphemous.

In Return of the Obra Dinn, you hop aboard an East India Company ghost ship and are tasked with discovering the fates of its sixty crew members. At your disposal is a pocket watch that, when used on corpses, can show you their last moments before death. You also have a logbook, where you piece together information regarding the sailors in question. Essentially, you’re a Coroner conducting an Inquest on sixty people at once, but with a magic pocket watch. Wouldn’t that be handy?

Considering Obra Dinn’s shining critical acclaim back when it came to PC in 2018, it’s no wonder we’re getting the 19th century murder mystery on the big three consoles. Return of the Obra Dinn was widely praised for its unique monochromatic art style, as well as its ability to allow the player to use their own intuition. This is something our very own Samiee Tee talked about more in-depth earlier this year, so check it out if you want some more insight into Obra Dinn’s compelling style.

Return of the Obra Dinn is yet another indie powerhouse making its way to consoles, will you be picking it up later this month? Let us know down in the comments.
