ESPN Reports That Blizzard Will Reveal Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon

Blizzard is set to unveil Overwatch 2 during BlizzCon, which takes place in just a few days. This comes from an ESPN report, which claims it has obtained a “BlizzCon training document” from a source over at Blizzard.

The report reveals that Overwatch 2 will include a PvE mode, a new PvP mode named “Push”, and at least one new hero. We also get some info about a new map, said to be based in “Toronto” in the training document. This hints that our new hero will be from Canada, which makes sense as we haven’t got a hero from the great white north yet.

The report also details the logo for Blizzard’s new title, which is described to have a “small orange 2 indexed in the top right corner”. This could mean that Overwatch 2, isn’t a full sequel, and is more akin to a large expansion. It would make sense, as Overwatch still has a massive player base and a strong esports league. The way the document seems to talk about the addition of content like maps and game modes also seems to imply that this content will attach to Overwatch, rather than be a separate installment entirely.

Considering Overwatch’s widely appealing gunplay, it’s no surprise Blizzard is bringing a PvE mode to the hero shooter. The PvE mode is set to include consumable items, hero talents, and 4-player co-op. We know one mission will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s capital city. Considering the diverse cast of Overwatch, it’s likely we’ll get to explore various parts of the world in the new story mode.

Plenty more detail is to follow come BlizzCon on November 1st, where Overwatch 2 is planned to playable by attendees.

Speaking of BlizzCon, it’s looking like it will be an interesting couple of days. A massive protest is planned for the event after Blizzard controversially banned one of its Hearthstone pro players, for supporting the Hong Kong protests. That’s a whole can of worms to open, but it’s impossible to ignore when you’re discussing anything to do with Blizzard. If you want more detail, check out our piece on it here.

So what are you most excited about for BlizzCon? The protests, Overwatch 2, or a likely Diablo 4 reveal? Let us know down in the comments.
