The meat of this presentation was of course, Terry Bogard and Sakurai showed him off in exhaustive detail. Terry came across as a highly technical fighter, by using command inputs you can boost the power of select special moves just like Ryu. Additionally, Terry has the ability to perform counter attacks out of a parry AND a lot of his moves feature animation cancels for faster attacks. These unique abilities could shoot him up to a high spot on tier lists and in the hands of a skilled player, Terry could prove to be very powerful indeed.

Terry’s new stage, the “King of Fighters Stadium” features a smattering of cameo characters plus a new wall-breaking stage mechanic so fights can closely mimic the gameplay of 90’s fighting games. A staggering 50 new tracks from SNK’s music catalogue are also bundled in with his update, including tracks from Metal Slug and Samurai Showdown.

To round off the presentation, Sakurai briefly discussed some new features included in the Ver. 6.0 update and they mainly pertain to some new social features added to the online Battle Arenas. Amiibos for Simon, Chrom, and Incineroar were also unveiled and slated for a November 20 release. Lastly, if you ever thought your Mii Fighters needed some 90’s flair, then the new fighter costumes based on SNK and Virtua Fighter characters will sort you out.

Anyone who was keeping their fingers crossed for Doom Slayer’s announcement, or any kind of surprises will be disappointed though. This presentation purely focused on Terry and how to make the most of his unique play-style.
