Horizon Zero Dawn for PC Leaked by Amazon France

Horizon Zero Dawn could be breaking into the PC world. In January, Jason Schreier posted on Kotaku rumors from his sources that indicate Horizon Zero Dawn will be releasing on Steam and Epic Games Store this year. As if Schreier’s word isn’t enough in the industry, Amazon France may have just officially leaked it.

Recently, Amazon’s French site put up a listing for a PC edition of Horizon Zero Dawn. The game’s publisher was listed as Sony. In true online-marketplace fashion, the listing has since been taken down, but in true internet fashion, the information is already widespread and getting a lot of PC gamers excited.

Horizon Zero Dawn Aloy Gameplay

Horizon Zero Dawn made a splash in 2017, and ever since its announcement in 2015, it has won 29 awards, including three Golden Joystick awards. It has been recognized for 82 other awards, including Game of the Year at the 2017 Game Awards. It stands as one of the top five best-selling games on the PlayStation 4 at over 10 million units. To put that in perspective, its company on that list are God of War (2018), The Last of Us Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Given a PC release, it would be interesting to see what their overall numbers look like. PS4 exclusives always find their ways into millions of homes upon release. However, we’re starting to see a trend of previously exclusive titles making their way to PC marketplaces. After being invested in by NetEase in January 2019, Quantic Dream released three of its titles, BEYOND: Two Souls, Heavy Rain, and Detroit: Become Human on Epic Games Store. We are also awaiting the PC release of Death Stranding from Kojima Productions this year.

However, Horizon Zero Dawn’s release on PC would be different. Kojima Productions and Quantic Dream are both private, independent developers that made publishing deals with Sony. Guerilla Games, on the other hand, is owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment. This would be the first time that a game made entirely in-house at PlayStation released on another platform. Even Naughty Dog, responsible for Crash Bandicoot, Uncharted, and The Last of Us, hasn’t ventured outside of PlayStation platforms since they were acquired by SIE back in 2001.

This would certainly be a significant step for Horizon Zero Dawn, Guerilla Games, and even Sony. It’ll be interesting to see if these rumors turn out to have any substance.
