The heavily-anticipated remaster of the Nintendo DS 2007 cult-hit The World Ends With You has finally found its spot on the calendar. Nintendo tweeted out that it will be launching on October 12th, 2018, as if October hasn’t been busy enough. Square Enix announced the title in a Nintendo Direct earlier this year, and since then fans have been salivating over it. The eye-catching artstyle, exciting gameplay, and engaging story landed this game a place on many gamers’ top ten lists of their favorite JRPGs. The World Ends with You also released on mobile platforms which featured higher quality visuals. While the game sold fairly well for a niche market DS title, the critical reception has also been universally positive with the Nintendo DS version having an 88 on Metacritic and even higher scores on the iOS ports (91 on iPhone and a 95 on iPad).
The Final Remix will feature a redesigned control scheme to utilize the Switch’s Joy-Con technologies. The remaster will also make use of the Switch’s touch screen as the game has exclusively launched on platforms that featured touch screen capabilities. The art will remain the same, except that it will be refined to support high-definition displays. There will be additional story content to the Switch version, giving fans and newcomers more of a reason to purchase this title. The World Ends with You: Final Remix will be sold at full price at release.
