October 2: Forza Horizon 4
The first giant release of October is Microsoft’s new entry to the extremely successful racing series Forza Horizon. Forza Horizon 4 is a massive open-world racer that focuses more-so on fun factor than a realistic racing experience. Set in the UK, Forza Horizon 4 has over 450 licensed cars, and includes a dynamic weather system that causes the seasons to change through gameplay, a first for the series. With the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Horizon 4, it looks like Playground Games has knocked it out of the park yet again.
October 2: Mega Man 11
Mega Man 11 is the latest entry in the long running and widely popular action platformer from Capcom. With gameplay that looks to stay true to the series core, while also adding some modern takes such as a gear system that grants the blue bomber some extra abilities, such as the option to slow down time, and a unique 2.5D graphics style, Mega Man 11 looks to be a return to form that fans of the series have eagerly been waiting for.
October 5: Assassins Creed Odyssey
After taking a break from the franchise for a year, Assassins Creed came back stronger than ever with one of their best titles in a long time with Origins, which took the series in a completely new direction, as it focused on RPG elements that allowed players to experience the game however they wanted to. Now a year later we have Assassins Creed Odyssey, which dives deeper into Origins RPG mechanics while also allowing players to choose to be male or female and romance with multiple NPCs. Odyssey also includes a branching story line, dialogue options and multiple endings, with all of these new additions, Assassins Creed is going full on RPG on us and we couldn’t be more excited.
October 5: Super Mario Party
The Nintendo Switch is finally getting a Mario Party title which has us very intrigued, as it is a perfect fit for the console-handheld hybrid. With over 80 mini games for players to enjoy with friends online or locally, Super Mario Party is perfect for a party at your house or a quick game during your lunch break at work or school with some friends.
October 5: WWE 2K19
The latest entry in the beloved wrestling series from 2K is set to release later this week capping off one of the biggest release weeks of the year. With a return of the showcase mode, focusing on the accomplished career of Daniel Bryan, and the return of the career mode, which follows you on your journey to become the world’s greatest wrestler, WWE 2K19 looks to be yet another enjoyable entry in the series when it hits shelves this Friday.
October 12: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
Another year equals another generic FPS from the money crazed giant that is Activison. While the recent Call of Duty’s may not be the worst shooters around, they lack innovation as each feels like a re-skin of the last with only minor changes and updates to the Multiplayer and Zombies modes. With the removal of the campaign mode (which baffles me as some fans seemed to enjoy them, including myself), all Black Ops 4 looks to have going in its favor is the new battle royale mode, Blackout, which seems like a highly polished take on the genre. No matter my opinion though, this title will still sell like its the greatest thing since bubblegum. Lets just hope it breaths some new life into the series.
October 16: Lego DC Super-Villains
Who doesn’t want a Lego game where you can control a giant roster of DC villains, as well as create your own diabolical maniac that teams up with these not so beloved psychopaths to save the world. Featuring gameplay similar to other Lego titles, this game sees the Joker leading the Injustice League on a unfamiliar quest for the group after the Justice League goes missing. Lego DC Super-Villains is an unique and exciting take on the DC universe, here hoping we get to rob a few banks after saving the world.
October 16: Starlink: Battle for Atlas
An open-world title where players can explore space and diverse planets, sounds great right? Wait it gets even better. Combat is revolved around fighting different aliens in spaceships on planets and in space, alright you must be pretty pumped by now, but your not gonna believe me it gets better, there is also a toys-to-life element. That doesn’t sound very appealing does it? While the toys-to-life idea may not be the most beloved concept in the industry, if you’re gonna try it, Starlink: Battle for Atlas seems to be the best idea yet, as the toys are parts to your ship and you can change them as you please, allowing for a unique way to customize your ship. The best part is the toys-to-life element is completely optional allowing you to change your equipment in-game if you would like. Starlink: Battle for Atlas looks to be a great adventure, lets just hope it turns out to be as good as it looks.
October 19: Dark Souls: Remastered for Switch
Finally after months of waiting, Nintendo fans who never got to give the beloved masterpiece a shot get a chance to break their Switch’s into a bunch of tiny pieces out of frustration this month. There isn’t much more to say really. The game is tough as nails and while it may cause a few broken joy-cons, in the end, Switch owners will soon fall in love with one of the greatest titles ever made.
October 19: Soulcaliber VI
The latest entry in the long-running fighting series is just around the corner and we couldn’t be more excited. With a unique system that allows fighters to wield two different weapons, depending on the character, the Soulcaliber series is one of the better fighters around. With the addition of the Reversal Edge which allows players to stop an enemies attack and quickly strike back in slow-motion, Soulcaliber VI has potential to be the best fighter of the year. The icing on the cake though is the fact that Geralt of Rivia is a playable fighter, which has us eagerly anticipating its mid October release date.
October 26: Red Dead Redemption 2
Alright we can finally talk about Red Dead Redemption 2, the upcoming epic tale of the Van Der Linde gang. With so many new systems at play, Red Dead Redemption 2 is shaping up to be one of the most dangerous and realistic game worlds ever made. Featuring some of the most impressive visuals to date and an exciting look into the wild west near its end, Red Dead Redemption 2 is looking to be one of the best open-world titles ever made, lets just hope it lives up to all this hype.
Those are the biggest games coming out this month, find us on Twitter and Facebook and let us know what game your looking forward to the most, and don’t forget to check back for the latest news in gaming.

I am a huge sports game fan, if I am not playing 2k or Madden, then I am probably playing the latest big release. I’m also a lover of all movies, but I have a soft spot for a good action flick.
