Many are hoping its sequel will reach the levels of quality of the original, yet some are skeptical due to Rockstar’s monetization of Grand Theft Auto Online. In response to these concerns, Rockstar assured fans that they will provide the same excellent single player experience as their games have always offered. Red Dead Redemption II will launch on October 26th, 2018 and release on current-gen platforms except for Nintendo Switch and PC.
The release date itself is believed to have caused major third-party releases like Call of Duty Black Ops IIII to move forward on the calendar to two weeks prior to Rockstar’s juggernaut title. Red Dead Redemption II will feature online content that will release exclusively on PlayStation 4 ahead of Xbox One platforms due to a partnership between Rockstar Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment. Fans have also complained about specific preorder bonuses where there is single player content that one can only get by preordering deluxe editions of the game. Despite the confusion and controversy, it is safe to say Rockstar will once again deliver an incredible game that critics and gamers alike will enjoy for a long time.
