Rocket League: HDR Audio and Loot Boxes Leaving?

Rocket League seems to get better and better with each update and the most recent bit of news that has come out for it doesn’t set it back one bit. Psyonix came out and said that the randomized prizes that came out of their loot box system would no longer be around, as they are ditching the loot box system for a system that shows you exactly what you are getting when you purchase something. This seems to be the first of many games to be ditching the loot box system for a more player-friendly system.

This doesn’t come as too big of a surprise as Epic Games recently acquired Psyonix and they probably wanted to keep purchases on both Fortnite and Rocket League similar, as the Fortnite store seems to be doing pretty well for them. If you want more information on this loot box change they are making, you can head here and read it straight from the Rocket League site.

The other bit of news from Rocket League is the addition of HDR Sound coming in the new update on August 27. HDR audio is hard to explain, but it’s definitely going to change how you hear every bit of sound that comes from the game. Everything from goal explosions to the car’s engine sounds, to the sounds your car makes when boosting down the field will change. The developers said that while it’s different from making other sounds “louder” its actually the process of quieting other ambient sounds and making other sounds more prominent. We’ll just have to wait till August 27 to find out exactly what they mean. They also mentioned that they hope that people will give the new sound a chance, as they think it’s going to be a great new addition to the game.
