This is Assassin’s Cree-gypt.
News of the latest instalment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise were leaked today. The game, dubbed Assassin’s Creed: Origins, was shown via an image posted on Reddit, by (now-deleted) user “shoutouttoashraf”.
According to Eurogamer, three sources have claimed that the image and title, first reported by WWG, are wholly legitimate. Not only that, but these sources have also indicated that the newest game will act as a prequel, and is set for a 2017 release, on Playstation 4, Xbox 1 and PC.
The images have seemingly proven true the reports made by Kotaku last year, that the game would be set in Egypt. The mission status “”Follow Shadya to Khenut’s villa” corroborates this, as Khenut was an Egyptian queen who lived during the Fifth Dynasty of Egypt.
We’re also shown a bow-wielding protagonist on a boat in the middle of a body of water, marking a return for nautical travelling, which was made popular in Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag.
While these claims haven’t been publicly confirmed, we can only imagine that we’ll know more about Assassin’s Creed: Origins come E3.
