Leaked Images of Xbox Series X Show Off Console’s Back

The first real-life images of the Xbox Series X have leaked online via NeoGAF. Two images of a prototype model of the console were posted by user Curry Panda in a thread dedicated to discussing the next-gen. Website Thurrott previously reported on which ports would be included on the back of the Xbox Series X, and have now confirmed these images to be accurate to the information they received from inside sources.

The prototype has three USB A ports in total: one in the front, and two in the back. There are also ports for Ethernet, HDMI, Optical Audio, and power. The back also has circular holes for ventilation, much like the ones seen on the top of the model. Do keep in mind that the leaked images are that of a prototype console, making them subject to change.

We previously got a look at the Xbox Series X during The Game Awards back in December. However, the image shown of the console there was a render, which apparently isn’t completely accurate to the console itself.

There isn’t anything too exciting to glean from the released images, perhaps the most notable change is that unlike the Xbox One, the Series X doesn’t have an HDMI IN port. I don’t think too many potential buyers will be put off by this, but it could be a bad move, considering the Series X seems to be aiming for the status of multi-media device; just like what was planned for the One. We talked more about this when we reported on website MCV’s interview with head of Xbox Game Studios, Matt Booty.

Regardless, it’s still early and we can’t say much about how the Series X will work. It’s nice to get a proper look at it though, especially for the tech enthusiasts out there. The Xbox Series X is coming out in Q4 of this year and will launch with the long-awaited Halo Infinite. What do you think about the prototype? Let us know down in the comments.
