The Overwatch Summer Games 2019 event is now live for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can jump into the fray and try for four new legendary skins and several epic skins, as well as emotes and sprays. There are less skins this time, but the event is taking place earlier than in past years. If you’re looking for the sexy Torbjorn skin that you’ve spent your whole life dreaming of, you’ve come to the right event. For epic skins, you will have to complete wins in weekly events in order to unlock them for use. Check out the trailer below for more info on the hectic, yearly event.
Overwatch Role Queue Coming
In addition to the current Overwatch Summer Games 2019, there was also another developer update outlining Overwatch Role Queue, which Jeff Kaplan spends more than 16 minutes explaining. The short version of the story is that competitive mode is being updated to limit teams to two tank, two support, and two damage roles. Players will receive skill ratings for each role overall while playing five placement matches per each individual role. You will now have skill ratings for every role, with the ability to compete for each during every season. It’s a little complicated but Kaplan promises that the changes will be worth the wait when they are implemented in future seasons. There will also be a beta period of two weeks where Blizzard will test out the feature before they fully implement it in the game.
It sounds like huge changes are coming to Overwatch, so let us know what you think of the big changes that are coming down the line. And if you want to know every detail of what’s coming to competitive mode, you can watch the developer update on YouTube below (let Jeff whisper sweet nothings into your headphones).
