Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has sold over five million copies ahead of its new update release on October 29. The new update will serve largely as a way for players to test their skills against some new challenges and treasure their achievements.
What’s in the new Sekiro update?
The new Gauntlets of Strength provide “single-life challenges that will truly test only the bravest warriors… or the most foolish.” Of course, if you die, you start all the way back at the beginning of the gauntlet. For players who successfully complete the appropriate gauntlets, two new Wolf outfits are being added as ways to show off your prowess. A third is also being added as a reward for successful completion of the game.
FromSoftware has also added Remnants. Remnants more or less are recordings of a player’s activity for up to 30 seconds. Remnants can be shared with the rest of the Sekiro community. “Through these Remnants, one could hope that they or others may gain the knowledge and further insight to overcome their current obstacle.” Furthermore, if a community member watches and rates a Remnant, the one who posted the Remnant will have their HP recovered without the use of a Sculptor’s Idol or any Healing Gourds. This gives players great incentive to share their wisdom and tricks with their peers.
This update will be free for anybody with the base game. Hopefully, these additions will further persuade players who haven’t purchased Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice to hop on the bandwagon. With over five million players now and the distinction of 2019 Game of the Year, it’s getting harder for people not to take the game off the shelves.
