The landmark entry in the Monster Hunter franchise, Monster Hunter World, will be followed by the release of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on September 6th, 2019 for PS4 and Xbox One. For PS4 players, the much anticipated rollout is happening sooner than expected. A standalone beta (which does not require ownership of Monster Hunter World to play) opens for PS Plus members from June 21-23 and all PS4 players from June 28-30. Capcom has been striking while the iron is hot, continually supporting Monster Hunter World since its January 2018 release and formally announcing Iceborne in December of last year.
For the time being, there has been no mention of open betas for Xbox One or PC, but with how early the PS4 beta is arriving, there may be hope yet. Monster Hunter World was Sick Critic’s favorite RPG of 2018 leaving us very excited for the future of the series. Announcement of the upcoming beta coincided with the release of new Iceborne gameplay, which looks as refined as its predecessor, now relocated to the wintry Hoarfrost Reach.
