Marvel Brings the Alliance Back Together

Calling all superheroes! For all of those fans out there needing their Marvel fix after Endgame, look no further. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 3 is here and its better than its predecessors. This title released exclusively on Nintendo Switch on July 19th. The last installment for this series came out in 2009, giving fans a long wait.

This game is set in an entirely new universe than the last two but is still the same top-down dungeon crawler with an emphasis on cooperative play. Up to four players can play the game cooperatively locally, either on the same screen with a single docked Nintendo Switch system, undocked with up to four systems, or online with friends. Players choose four characters from various Marvel families to traverse linear stages, fight enemies, and defeat bosses. Additional characters are unlocked by story progression or optional Infinity Rift challenges, with more characters currently planned as free or paid downloadable content.

As of right now, there are 43 playable and unlockable characters. You can check out all of those here. There are also over 28 bosses, some of which become playable characters. But there are also at least 15 characters who just appear as NPCs and aren’t playable in any form. Jessica Jones and Ant-Man are two of those unplayable characters. As a huge Marvel fan, and of Jessica Jones for that matter, I’m slightly confuddled as to why they would have Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Iron Fist as playable NPCs but not Jones. We can only be led to speculate that she has a special future as paid DLC or something of the like. Are there any characters you would like to see added to the game in the future? Post it in the comments below!
