The Radar Room: December Game Releases to Look For.

December 1: Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Lets start things off with Nintendo’s final big exclusive for 2017, Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The massive JRPG has been praised by critics for its compelling story and deep combat system. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the title die hard RPG fans have been waiting to experience on their Switch, and in a year where Nintendo can not seem to miss, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 seems to be the perfect way to end the year and propel the Switch into 2018.

December 5: Dead Rising 4: Frank’s Big Package

Dead Rising 4 is coming to the PS4 after a year of being a timed exclusive for Microsoft’s Xbox One. Frank’s Big Package, (okay, so it is not the most welcoming title around), includes all of the downloadable content from the original game as well as a new heroes mode. In the Heroes Mode titled, Capcom Heroes, Frank assumes the powers and abilities of some of Capcom’s most notable characters such as Dante from the Devil May Cry series. Frank’s Big Package releases on the PS4, taking away yet another Xbox exclusive, (come on, it is starting to get a bit ridiculous Sony), for $49.99.

December 5: Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris

The first major expansion to Destiny 2 hits consoles and PCs early this month. The new expansion includes a new story focusing on Warlock Osiris, as well as a new social space and an increased level cap. Destiny 2 is not for everyone, and while the series has its problems, fans can not seem to get enough of it. Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris will releases later this month for $19.99 or you can purchase the season pass for $34.99.

December 5: The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection

The Telltale Series Collection will include seasons one through three as well as the three part Michonne mini-series. The earlier seasons will also receive a visual upgrade on the PS4 and Xbox One. This collection is a great way to get into arguably one of the best narratives Telltale Games has created (which is no small feat). The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection releases on the Xbox One and PS4 for $49.99.

December 9: LocoRoco 2

LocoRoco 2 will finally make its way to the PS4 this December after the first title, LocoRoco released on the system earlier this year. The acclaimed and beloved platformer was originally released on the PSP back in 2009. The PS4 version will support 4k resolution on the PS4 Pro, and now allows PS4 owners to play the first two titles in the series if you missed them on the PSP.

December 12: Okami HD

The remaster of the acclaimed 2006 action-adventure game, will support 4k resolution on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Considered one of the best games of all time is coming to this generation with improved graphics, and will allow you to choose between widescreen 16:9 and the original 4:3 aspect ratio. If you missed out on this gem back in 2006, then now is a great time to give this classic a try.

December 12: Playerunkown’s Battleground

The insanely popular battle royale title is coming to the Xbox One as a console exclusive this December. This is a big win for Microsoft as PUBG is one of the biggest titles of the year. PUBG is a great addition to the Xbox’s library, and should help sell more systems this holiday season, PUBG will release this December for $29.99.

December 12: Resident Evil 7: Not a Hero and End of Zoe

Not a Hero stars fan favorite Chris Redfield, and will release as a free expansion. The action packed episode, will begin at the end of the base games campaign, but will take a different approach to the gameplay, as it has much different enemies and will feature more gunplay than the original game. End of Zoe is a $14.99 expansion to RE7, but will be included in the games season pass. The second episode will include a new swamp location and will reveal the fate of Zoe Baker. December is a great month for fans of Resident Evil, as it includes two very different expansions that should keep fans of the series happy until the eventual eight title in the series releases.

December 13: Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ignis

The latest expansion for FFXV, takes players on the journey of Ignis, one of the main characters in FFXV. In the episode, players control Ignis and the story focuses on his life before the events of FFXV. FFXV has received an insane amount of expansions, and at this point most fans would prefer if Square Enix would focus on the next entry in the series, and not yet another expansion.

December 13: Star Wars Battlefront 2: The Last Jedi Season

On December 5 players can choose to ally themselves with either the First Oder or Resistance, then on December 13 players can unlock Finn or Captain Plasma as heroes in the multiplayer, as well as some new maps and vehicles will be introduced. While Star Wars Battlefront 2 may not be a terrible game, its pay to win system is a complete mess and you should not even consider giving this game a shot until EA fixes its many problems.

December 14: Yooka-Laylee

The 3D platformer from Playtonic Games will finally releases on the Nintendo Switch this December. The Switch version will receive all of the games post releases updates, as well as an in-game achievement system. Yooka-Laylee is yet another indie to hit the system, and should allow players who missed it on other consoles earlier this year to give it a shot.
